IT'S A MARATHON NOT A SPRINT AND OTHER WORDS OF WISDOM

Baseball is full of metaphors and the Yankees are the best at using them
during difficult times, like now. Joe Girardi today explained his players difficulty in getting on base "Hitters are going to go through peaks and valleys,” This was followed by Derek Jeter reminding us what month it is by saying “I don't see anybody popping champagne in the middle of May, just like I don't see anybody hanging their heads in the middle of May" I am really surprised that A-Rod didn't chime in with "It's a marathon not a sprint" After all, Alex is always good for stating the obvious.

The problem with using metaphors is they eventully start to feel like excuses. Joe seemed slightly annoyed in the interview that people were calling for a shake up in the line up. Well in keeping with metaphors - I have one for Joe. "The defination of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"

No one wants to see this team start winning as much as I do. This team has the talent to play much better ball than it has been. I have faith in this team - that will never change. But the way they are playing does.

As always, GO YANKEES!
